Dear Friends,

Please note my cell phone number above. Please use it if you need to contact me. Do not leave a message on the voice mail-as it does not work correctly.

Thanks to donations from Avis Buchanan, Bill Underwood, Sara Sloan, Mildred Ferrell and Kevin Donahue, Jumping Jack has had his veterinary checkup and all shots and his neutering has been scheduled. Special thanks to Kevin, who has pledged a monthly donation for J.J.'s sponsorship. For your information, you may sponsor any one of our animals for any amount of money that you are able to send in that animal's name on a regular basis.

Buster, his mother and sister have only a small, 12x12 pen so we have to make time to walk them at least every other day. For the last week, a half-grown squirrel has followed along several yards behind Buster. Yesterday, it scared me half crazy by coming within reach of Buster's lead. I was so afraid he would attack. I grabbed his collar and held on tight, but he only sniffed the squirrel and then resumed his walk-with the squirrel only a few feet away. I don't know what prompted this, but we put a top on the dogs' pen that very night. I don't trust the other two to be that casual about the company of a squirrel. The two took their walk together again today. I am going to try to get a picture of them for the website. This is a very strange friendship!

We would like to thank everyone for their prayers and good wishes for John's sister, Eloise Ogle. She was very lucky not to lose her leg. She had skin grafts this past week, but she is home and recovering as well as can be expected. When we told her so many of you had written asking about her, she said, "Thank them for caring about me. I already knew they are all good people for caring about the animals. God bless them for that."

PLEASE REMEMBER we continue to need extra money to make the payments on the land, which are $1,500 EXTRA every month in 2005. These payments are, of course, over and above the normal costs of running the shelter. We urgently need your help with these.

Donations for the land purchase and general expenses for the Alabama location should be sent to the following address: Carolyn Keeton, 4907 23rd Boulevard, Valley AL 36854.

Unfortunately, some supporters who have pledged money for this purpose have reneged on their promises. We could lose this land-and the animals on it would have no place to call home. Please help us ensure this does not happen!!

These numbers do NOT include the special donations made for the land purchase.

In June, our donation income totaled $3,363.65. Our expenses totaled $3,376.02.

This is one of the lowest donation months in years in many months. We have absolutely no cushion at all to use for unexpected costs.

We ask that you help us by making an extra or special donation.

Since our last report, we have received donations for veterinary care from Avis Buchanan, Tony Graney and Mary Jane Johnson-totaling $145-we send you a heartfelt Thank You. We ask that all of you consider a gift to this fund-so our animals will NEVER have to suffer for lack of medical care. You may donate toward veterinary care in any one of the following four ways:

* Sending us a check made out to Murrayville Veterinary Clinic for whatever amount you wish to contribute OR
* Sending a check made out to ALL C.A.T.S., Inc. indicating the donation is to be used for general veterinary expense.
* Send a check directly to Murrayville Veterinary Clinic, P.O. Box 406, Murrayville, GA 30564. Be sure to indicate that it is to be applied to the All C.A.T.S., Inc. account.
* To donate online, visit our web portal (, and click on Vet Expenses under our How You Can Help menu.
* Then, select Veterinary Expenses and you'll be able to pay online instantly using your credit card and/or checking account.

Since our last report, we received 188 stamps (versus 215 needed) from Benjamin Jones, Mardi Hoofnagle, Jamie Reagin, Barbara Johnson, Robert Salzman, and Lois Holbrook. We have not had to use shelter money to purchase stamps in several months. Keep up the great work!

* From Annette Gonzales "in memory of MOLLY-we miss you!"

* From Barbara Johnson "in memory of my beloved KING and CHUCK. They were both very old, but I miss them so much-and to lose them both right together. Such good animals."

* To Kathy Spiker for your continuing on-line sponsorship of PIGSY TAIL.

"After weeks of speculation, the cat is out of the bag-Pope Benedict XVI loves felines. It turns out that the pope is the proud owner of Chico, a black-and-white domestic short hair that lives at the pope's home in the Bavarian town of Tubingen, Germany....Chico is currently being looked after by the caretaker of the pope's private residence.....There is also a multi-colored tabby cat that hangs around a lot of the time and keeps Chico company says the pope's long-time housekeeper, Agnes Heindl." And, according to Cardinal Roger Mahony, archbishop of Los Angeles, "The street talk that the pope loves cats is incorrect. The pope adores cats." From "Other Pet News" - dated July 15, 2005.

The Georgia Department of Agriculture invites Georgians to participate in its Dog and Cat License Plate art contest...which will determine a design for a new license plate to benefit the Dog and Cat Sterilization Program. To submit designs, participants should adhere to the following guidelines and rules:

* Art must be no larger than 14" and 11" wide.
* Art must depict a dog and/or cat
* Art must use no more than four colors.

Submit designs to:

Dog and Cat Artwork
Georgia Department of Agriculture
19 Martin Luther King Jr. SW
Room 106
Atlanta GA 30334

A panel of judges will determine the winning submission and award up to $1,000. The winning art will be featured on the new Dog and Cat License Plate, which will be sold in addition to the current design, beginning in December 2005.

Thanks to Carolyn Danese for sending us the above information.
